Look at me, not procrastinating! (Sort of)

Yesterday I finished my pattern submission for the fall issue of Knitty. Wish I could share photos, but that would spoil all the fun. That’s the tough thing about having a blog now. I have to wait months (even years) before I get to talk about what I’m working on so as to not get in trouble from publishers. Guess it just helps me gain patience.

I’m really happy that I already completed the pattern for the fall issue. The deadline isn’t until July. This is very unlike me. Usually I realize a deadline is close about two weeks prior. Then I stay up til 2:00 am every night trying to get the design done it time. Which is probably what I’ll be doing with my submission for the summer issue. It’s due in two weeks and I haven’t even started yet. It’s a small project so I’m not too worried.

Tomorrow my sister and I are going up to the city to volunteer for the Princess Project. We volunteered two years ago and really enjoyed it. The project provides prom dresses for girls who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford one. The selection of dresses and accessories is amazing. Many of the dresses are new, if not worn only a few times. And, they are current looks. We’ll be helping the girls pick out the perfect dress and then match it with accessories.

The girls are wonderful and so appreciative. Often with philanthropic work one never gets to interact with the recipient. One will knit hats and blankets, donate money, etc, but never get to see how it benefits someone. I know serving isn’t about making oneself feel good, but it is nice to see the smile of the person who has been helped every once in awhile.
