Globe Trotter Pinup Winner: Rebel Knitting

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

Ever tried knitting on the back of a motorcycle? This is the question Becky posed in her collage Rebel Knitting. The answer for many, I’m sure, is no, but wouldn’t you like to try? If you were going to, Becky’s got the gear lined up for you already. (You’d definitely need your those circlets to keep your yarn in place!)

Our Butler makes for one polished mama

Wednesday, April 4th, 2012

Doing things with others is a great way to learn different techniques and get new ideas. Everyone I cook with seems to peel garlic differently. The same goes for knitting, crocheting and organizing all of our gear.

Many of the people we’ve chatted with have used our Crafter’s Tool Butler in conjunction with another handbag or just kept it as a carryall around the house. But Robyn Chachula over at crochet by faye likes hers as a clutch.

“I have to be honest, I have mainly been carrying it around to polish me up a bit too. It is really attractive and I have been using it as a clutch of sorts. It reminds me to wear nice shoes, put on jewelry, and basically get out of typical crazed mom look.

Granted I have it stuffed with a diaper and wipes in one back pocket, crochet swatch in another, wallet/cell in another, and pens/ hooks/snacks in the front; but I look like a very cool mom with a tiny clutch instead of a huge bag.”

You can read more of Robyn’s review on her blog and enter to win your own Crafter’s Tool Butler! The giveaway runs through April 14. While you’re there, check out some of her great crochet patterns. If you’re not already into crochet, the Paint by Numbers toddler dress might just give you the push you need.  Thanks for the great review Robyn!

Globe Trotter Pinup Challenge

Spring is here and with it comes all the familiar symbols: flowers, chirping birds, rain showers and airplanes.

OK, so maybe not quite airplanes, but definitely travel. Spring break, anyone? There’s something about spring that gets you in gear and ready to move. And for us knitters, that means the yarn is coming too!

Traveling with your projects is a cinch with Jordana Paige bags. Stock up your Crafter’s Tool Butler with all your knitting accessories and toss it in one of your stylish, at-the-ready JP handbags. Add copious amounts of wool along with a few outfits and toiletries and you’re ready for a long weekend away.

With that in mind, Jordana Paige is holding a virtual travel-inspired collage contest. Time to get creative for Jordana Paige’s Globe Trotter Pinup Challenge.

Gather images of your favorite Jordana Paige bags, knitting accessories and the rest of your dream travel gear, and show us how you travel with your knitting. The winner will receive a Jordana Paige bag of their choice!

Creating a collage is easy-peasy with Polyvore: It’s loaded with cute clothes, accessories and backgrounds. And for things like yarn, patterns and Jordana Paige knitting bags, it allows you to pull images from many places online.  (On our site, click to enlarge the image you want before you add it to your editor.)

Email us the link to your Polyvore set any time between April 2nd-16th; all entries must be received by April 16th at 11:59pm PST. If you’d rather create your collage physically or in another program, email us an electronic copy at least 800 pixels wide.

We’ll pin all the collages to our Pinterest board for voting April 17th. The winner will be chosen by the number of repins and likes on the original Jordana Paige pin, so tell your friends to head over to our Pinterest board and like your collage! Voting ends April 24th at 11:59pm PST.

Collages must include one of Jordana Paige’s products. Limit three collage entries per person. See our website for full contest terms.

We’re so excited to see what you come up with! If you need inspiration, check out our Pinterest board. We’ve created a few ourselves. Good luck and have fun!

Stitches West 2012 Winners

Tuesday, March 13th, 2012

We had a wonderful time at this year’s Stitches West in Santa Clara! As usual, we teamed up with Bobbin’s Nest Studio (whose wares are now accessible nationwide) to bring you the delicious yarns of Hazel Knits and patterns of LuLu Bliss.

It was a pleasure to meet so many of you face to face. We tweet, Facebook and email each other throughout the year. It’s so enjoyable to finally get to shake the hands of our fans.

If you stopped by our booth, you most likely got the sales pitch about our new Crafter’s Tool Butler from my mom. And watch out, cause she’ll sell you! No one can brag about someone like a mother can.

My mom was sporting Jordana Paige designs all weekend. During Stitches we stay with my sister, Elizabeth (that cute blonde gal that models for me). Friday morning Elizabeth was gone at work and I needed to accessorize my outfit. As all little sisters love to do, I raided Elizabeth’s jewellery box and selected a necklace to wear for the day. My mom also needed a necklace so I sent her to do the same. She came out wearing Julie, a necklace I designed for Knitty several years ago. Unknowingly she had selected a Jordana Paige design which just thrilled me. Although she may be biased to her daughter’s designs, in a blind test, she still selects Jordana Paige.

Sunday my mom wore Cadence, another pattern I designed for Knitty. This one she knit herself and got to debut it at Stitches. I think it looks fabulous on her!

Congratulations to our Stitches West winners! Jane M. won a handbag of her choice. She selected a pink Knitter’s Satchel. Allegra won a $50 gift card which she immediately spent on a bronze Bella. Wonderful choices ladies! Enjoy!

… And it smells like a giveaway! It’s over at Wendy Knits. Have you read her knitting blog?

I’m amazed at all the WIPs she’s got going on and love love love her kitty Lucy, who makes an appearance in every single blog post. That’s her there being insanely adorable.

If you haven’t checked out her blog, now is the time. Wendy’s got her own Tool Butler; She’s planning to use for knitting on the go (which she does a lot of). She’s giving away a Crafter’s Tool Butler to one lucky reader. Check out the post here. You’ve got until noon EST on January 24. Good luck!

Introducing the Crafter’s Tool Butler

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

Congratulations to Angela who named our new tool case the Crafter’s Tool Butler.

Angela’s entry was marketable, communicates the function of the product and has that bit of sass we were looking for. Thank you Angela!

It was a tough decision with all your fabulous entries! Meg gave me a big smile with her entry, “I’d call it ‘The Fiance’ cuz I love it so much I’d marry it!” We’ll be sending her a Crafter’s Tool Butler too, or as I’m sure she’ll be calling it, The Fiance, for making me smile.

A New Year’s resolution to help you win

Monday, December 19th, 2011

It’s been a few months now since Jordana has taught me how to knit, and things are going really well. Thanks to all of you for the advice! My good friend Nicole in Minneapolis was thrilled to bits to get the second scarf I knit. It was far too warm for California!

I’ve moved on now to a giant scarf, Fran the Afghan. It’s been quite the adventure: ripping out everything four times, switching colors and learning how to increase and decrease stitches. I feel like I’m on top of the (knitting) world!

She isn’t quite finished yet, but I’m crossing my fingers I’ll finish her before January 2, because I’m going be knitting my very first sweater, Jordana’s Emmery, in honor of Peppermint Mocha Mama’s Motivational Monday Contest.

It’s a different sort of take on New Year’s Resolutions for January: try something (technique or craft) challenging and new to you.

Of course, I can’t win because the prize is Jordana’s newest product, the tool case. Interested? I thought so!

The contest starts January 2, so head over and read the details, ponder your project, and get your supplies. I’m excited to learn to knit one of Jordana’s designs, even if I can’t win!

So what technique or project are you thinking of trying this January?

What’s in a Name? Tell us and Win!

Name it & Win it tool case
A new product means it’s time for a contest!

Here’s the scoop: Over the past few years I’ve given my handbags names that are significant to me. What could be more significant than you, the customer, who has kept me in business for 8 years. It’s about time I honor you and let you name my latest accessory.

Come up with a creative name for the Jordana Paige tool case! If you win, not only will you get a brand new tool case but your idea will be immortalized in the world of Jordana Paige.

From today until December 12th at midnight PST, you can submit your ideas in the comments of this blog post, on our Facebook wall or via email.  I’ll be judging based on creativity, uniqueness and a bit of je ne sais quoi. (You know, that thing that makes something awesome, but you’re not sure how to describe it or even what it is. No wonder people say that in French.)

The winner will be announced the following week. Only three entries per person, so give us your best. Find inspiration here.

Get those creative juices flowing! I’m looking forward to reading your ideas.

Winning never looked so cute

orange sweater kristie

While there is something so wonderful about the process of knitting, as far as I can tell, one of the most satisfying parts of the project comes from giving the gift and seeing it worn. And in the case of Kristie, her gift just kept on giving.

She knit this sweater for her daughter and entered it into the Celebrate Color contest and won! The sweater and the color are amazing, although  her daughter completes the package.

You can see more photos on Kristie’s blog, as well as some other really great stories, like where she teaches her children to knit.

Congratulations to Kristie, who has won a Jordana Paige Rio, among many other fabulous prizes! You can read all about it here. Enjoy your bag Kristie: may it help you knit many more wonderful gifts!

Giveaways are always in style

Monday, October 17th, 2011

Is there anything more fun than giving something away? Jordana has done loads of giveaways, but usually within the knitting community. So we thought we would try something a little different this time.

We chatted with Alison over at Wardrobe Oxygen, who’s got a great what-I-wore-today fashion blog. She writes inspiring posts on everything from how to be a stylish tourist to shopping on a budget. I could lose myself for hours inside her blog, which is why I was stoked when she agreed to review the Knitter’s Satchel and help us give one away!

Alison loved the bag:

I realized even though I do not knit… I wanted one of these bags. They are cleverly made, have such attention to quality and detail, and are made from an elegant vegan material that more truly replicates leather than most bags I have seen… The bag is truly gorgeous.  It comes with its own dust bag to protect it when not in use.  I loved the apple green contrast lining – what a cheery color to see each time you open your bag!

You can read more of the review and enter to win one of our Knitter’s Satchels here. While you’re there, be sure to click on the Return to Wardrobe Oxygen link so you can read some of Alison’s other great fashion tips, like how to make more time to create your personal style. Good luck to everyone and have fun!
