Not every woman has back and neck problems, but if you’re one of the unlucky ones who do, your handbag is something that requires major consideration. I know; an injury a few years ago sidelined several of my favorites. I had to reconsider my entire style.
One thing I learned quickly was that because women carry loads of stuff in our purses, the weight of a purse when empty is really important. Oprah’s chiropractor says we shouldn’t carry more than 10% of our weight in purse. Some handbags can weigh more than 8 pounds (3.6 kilos)!
When I first started, Jordana told me that many people commented on how light her bags were. And after toting around the Rio and Bella for awhile, I decided to weigh them all because she’s right! Compared to my other bags, I felt like I was forgetting something they were so light and I’m carrying knitting now.
Every one of Jordana Paige’s bags is under 3 pounds (1.36 kilos), and three styles are under 2 pounds (.9 kilos). To give you an idea, here are a few things that weigh under 3 pounds:
Thank goodness for Jordana Paige bags! They’ve kept me out of the world of style-less fanny packs and they’re chiropractor approved (by mine anyway) as long as I don’t load them up with soup cans or anything else super heavy. Yarn’s so light it doesn’t really count, right?
I have so much fun meeting everyone at Stitches each year. For three days people stop by to tell me why they love their Jordana Paige bag so much. It’s really great to get to hear from you. This year I decided to record your comments. Here’s a little video. Thank you to everyone who let me record you. For you camera-shy folks, I’ll get you next year!

Bag: The Knitter’s Messenger Bag by Jordana Paige
I love the combination of pink and grey. It’s so soft and feminine. Every day I use The Knitter’s Messenger Bag in Pink/Black Tweed to carry my laptop from my home to office and back. As I put this outfit together I didn’t even think about how awesome it would look with the messenger bag. I picked up my bag to head out the door, looked down and got really excited. So cute!
This is also a great reminder for me to tell you that The Knitter’s Messenger Bag in Pink/Black Tweed has been discontinued and only a few remain. It will probably be sold out by the end of the year. So, here’s your warning. If you’ve been wanting one, act now before they’re gone.
Nine AM tomorrow the new satchels and messenger bags will be here! It’ll be a full truck load, but my parents will be driving up to help me get in all in the warehouse.
Everytime a new shipment comes in I stare at all the boxes, which come all the way to the door, and get a bit of a sick feeling. I always think, “that’s a lot of product to sell, I hope I can do it again.”
Each time the sickness gets a bit stronger, as the warehouse I need gets larger. But, the confidence gets stronger too. I just have to remind myself of how great it will feel to roll up the door in a couple months and be able to see the back of the warehouse again.
All the labels and receipts are ready to go. I hope to get most of the pre-orders shipped tomorrow. At the very latest they’ll be shipped by Monday.
Aren’t these the cutest felted birds? I must make a dozen. I’m also adding Ariann by Chic Knits to my list of projects to make. Love it! I’ve never made a pattern by Bonne Marie, but judging by the photos, her patterns seem to be very meticulous.
The Knitter’s Messenger Bag in Navy Blue is back in stock. I’m just getting ready to meet the delivery truck at the warehouse to unload it all. If you have an order in for a messenger bag it will ship by tomorrow.
They’re here! The Knitter’s Satchel and The Knitter’s Messenger Bag in tweed are now in stock. The delivery came early today, so majority of the pre-orders have been shipped. The remainder will ship tomorrow, which means your new bag will be in your knittin’ hands by January 9th at the very latest.
If you would like to check the status of your order for a definite date, please use our tracking system. You’ll need your ship to zip code and order number. The order number can be found on the email confirmation that was sent when your order was placed. It begins with 001.
Ah, the joys of customs. Yesterday I spoke too soon saying the new bags would be here today. Although the freight had cleared customs it seems they decided to do yet another inspection. This time it didn’t pass. Why? Because the inspector seems to think the satchels are made from genuine leather. I couldn’t help but smile at this. Yes, the fabric, at 100% poly, is that good. A simple sniff of the fabric would rule it out as leather, but apparently it has to go to their “labs.” No more arrival date predictions until I have all the boxes in my warehouse.
