Tuesday, October 5th, 2010
I love giveaways! I wish I could have a new giveaway every week, but that would just be a really poor business plan. Here’s a better plan:
L.J. Kaelms will be arriving next week. The day is almost here! From now until October 15th at 11am PST, we’ll be collecting entries for our L.J. Kaelms giveaway. We’ll draw four winners at random, in honor of the four women the bag is named after.
There’s so many ways to enter. In fact, you can increase your chances by entering through all methods.
Ways to Enter
1. Like Jordana Paige on Facebook.
2. Follow Jordana Paige on Twitter.
3. Subscribe to our mailing list.
If you’re already doing any of the above, no need to do anything else for those entries to be counted. All Facebook fans, Twitter followers and mailing list subscribers will automatically be entered in the drawing.
4. Post any photo of L.J. Kaelms on your blog with a link to JordanaPaige.com and state why you want the bag. Send an email to contests@jordanapaige.com with a link to the blog post.
5. Tweet the following sentence on Twitter, completing it with your reason: “I want the new LJ Kaelms by @JordanaPaige because”
(Please make sure your Twitter feed is public, otherwise we won’t be able to see your tweet to count it).
6. Post a photo of you and any Jordana Paige product (bag or finished JP pattern) on our Facebook page. Don’t own a product? That’s okay. Draw a picture, print a photo, or cut out a magazine ad of your favorite Jordana Paige product. Hold it up next to you and snap a picture.
7. Post on the Jordana Paige Facebook wall stating why you like Jordana Paige products, which is your favorite Jordana Paige product or why you want an L.J. Kaelms bag. (Comments to wall posts not accepted. Must be a wall post.)
You can enter through all 7 methods above, but only once for each. For example, you’re welcome to tweet why you want an L.J. Kaelms bag 472 times, but it will only count as one entry.
If you have any questions about entering, just post a comment to this blog post.
Please read the Contest Rules here.
Good luck!

Stitches West is about 7 weeks away! Last night I couldn’t sleep because I was coming up with all sorts of prize giveaways for the show. As if getting stuff for free isn’t enough fun, I’m going to make the giveaways all kinds of interactive so they’re extra fabulous. More details to come, but I recommend following me on Twitter if you’re not already.
Click on the image above to download a $2 off coupon for admission to the show. The vendor list has been posted. I’ll be at booths 622-624. I think that’s where I was last year.
New Knitty = Another Chance to Win a JP
Monday, December 14th, 2009The winter issue of Knitty was published yesterday. In honor of it being their 30th issue, 30 prizes are being given away, one of which is Rio. Details to enter are here. I can’t believe this is the 30th issue. The first issue of Knitty was published just as I was starting Jordana Paige. I still remember coming across it before the first issue was published. Time goes by so fast!
Speaking of time flying, yesterday was my birthday. It was a fantastic weekend. I made a party garland to decorate my apartment for the occasion. Check back later today for instructions.
Winner of the Sweater Challenge…
Friday, December 4th, 2009Congratulations to Ella! Ella submitted two entries. I selected her styling of Starsky as the winning entry, but I also loved her styling of Amused so I’m sharing both with you. She did a great job of showing the versatility of the sweaters. Starsky was the first sweater she ever knit. I have to give her a huge applause for this. Starsky isn’t a “beginner” sweater, so to attempt and complete it as a first sweater is really awesome. Ella will be receiving a Jordana Paige bag of her choice.

Starsky, knit in Red Heart acrylic of some variety, in a dark green colour
This was the very first sweater I ever knit, and it was quite the epic undertaking at the time. No major modifications, but because I’m tall it’s a bit shorter on me than as modelled. It’s nice and cozy, but now that I know more, I wish I had chosen a wool yarn because I would love the sweater even more. Acrylic does make it really easy care, which is convenient. I’ve styled it here with my plaid skirt, in a cozy fall look, with dress shorts and a yellow sweater, which I’ve worn to work in the late summer on many occasions, and with jeans for a more casual option.

Amused, knit in Knit Picks Wool of the Andes, colour: Hyacinth.
I knit this sweater pretty much exactly as specified, with a bit less ease than modelled. I love wearing this sweater, because I always feel like the back of my neck is the first part of me to get cold, so the big collar helps keep me warm in the winter. I’ve styled it here in a few ways that I often wear it- with a casual tee for around the house and lazy weekends, with boots, jeans, and a scarf for a shopping trip or weekend stroll, and with dress pants and a chunky necklace (and my knitter’s satchel!) to wear to work.
Sweater Challenge: Win a Jordana Paige Bag
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009This evening as I was organizing and cleaning out my dresser drawers I thought, “it’s not fair, I never get to wear my own knitwear.” I knit all the samples you see on the website. After the photo shoots the sweaters get wrapped up and then shipped off to yarn shops for trunk shows. They’re never worn and I never knit myself one because I’ve moved onto the next design. After pouting for a second I was hit with an idea.
MY CHALLENGE
From November 4th to December 3rd I am only going to wear my own knitwear designs. Unfortunately I don’t have all of my designs to pull from as many are with the editors of the magazines and books that published the designs. This means that with 30 days to dress, I’ll be duplicating sweaters a few times. My challenge each day will be to style the sweater in a new way. I’ll document it here each day. Personal fashion blogs like What I Wore, Weardrobe and The Uniform Project are among my daily reads, so I’m really excited to join in the fun.
Here’s the part where you could win a Jordana Paige…
YOUR CHALLENGE
Let’s see how you style my knitwear designs. Submit 3 photos of yourself (or the person you knit the garment for) wearing a Jordana Paige knitwear design. Each photo must be of the same knitwear design, but styled differently. One look could be the sweater with a dress, the second look could be the sweater paired with a cute pair of pants and the third look could be something different and unexpected. So pull out your accessories and get creative. There’s 31 Jordana Paige designs to choose from. You can see a full portfolio at Ravelry.
To enter: Email your photos to contestsATjordanapaige.com (replace the AT with @) by December 3rd. Please include your first and last name, yarn info, any modifications you made to the pattern and a few notes about how you styled the three looks. If you’ve made more than one Jordana Paige sweater, you can enter for each sweater, but you must submit 3 different looks per sweater.
The Winner: I’ll select my favorite set of photos based on how well you styled the sweater. The person selected will receive a Jordana Paige bag of his/her choice, from available stock. There will probably be some runner up prizes too!
Void where prohibited. Submissions must be received by December 3rd, 2009 at 11:59PM PST. By submitting your photos, you grant Jordana Paige permission to use the photos on this blog.
Whoo, this is going to be super fun! I’m so excited to see what you come up with.
Free Pattern with Donation
Thursday, April 16th, 2009For the past two and a half years I’ve been a Big Sister through the organization Big Brothers Big Sisters. It’s the oldest, largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in the United States. We all have causes that are close to our hearts and BBBS would be mine.
Studies have shown that Little Brothers and Sisters who participate in mentoring programs are more confident in their school work, get along better with their families, are 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs, 27% less likely to begin using alcohol and 52% less likely to skip school.
I was going to tell you about the amazing relationships that are created through the organization, but I think this video says it better than I ever could.
April 25th I will be participating in the BBBS fundraiser, Bowl for Kids Sake. Would you would please sponsor my team? I know that when people give it comes from their heart and not another motivation. But because this is so important to me, I would like to give a thank you to those who donate to the organization. So, from now until April 25th, I will give anyone who sponsors my team with a donation of at least $10 a free Jordana Paige knitting pattern.
How to Donate:
1. Visit our team’s page: Winner Winner Turkey Dinner
2. Select either General Team Donation, or one of the team member’s name.
3. Make a donation.
4. Copy and paste the confirmation page in an email and forward it to info@jordanapaige.com. Include a note saying which pattern you would like to receive (select from JP001-JP006).
5. I’ll send you the pdf pattern and a huge thank you.
Fine Print: Limit one pattern per donor.
Thank you for your support and taking the time to learn more about Big Brother Big Sisters.
Catalina
Tuesday, April 14th, 2009
Just two weeks until the cruise! Catalina is the cardigan I will be teaching on the trip. It’s the pattern that I polled you for. The results–knitter’s want both charts and written instructions. I’m not surprised by this, I think I was just being lazy. Even though the cruise is two weeks away, I am mentally already on the ship. I did get some really helpful comments, so thank you for your help and for taking the poll.
Just another heads up, later this week I’ll be doing a pattern giveaway thing. I just haven’t worked out the details yet. It’s not a quick-on-your-toes thing like the Upside Down Sale, but after all that excitement I learned that Twitter really is the best way for announcements. So if you’re not following yet, get to it.
