Time zones confused me as a child; I thought that you could literally travel backwards in time the more west you headed. While time travel might not quite be possible, sometimes just looking at some old photos or listening to an album from decades earlier can transport you to that time.
With that in mind, check out an interview Jordana did with KnitCircus last October. They had some technical difficulties and didn’t get it out until much later, which is why we’re hearing it now.
Click on the link to hear the Jordana_Paige_Interview and if you use your imagination, you might go back in time a little bit.
Something special happens when the mercury hits about 70 degrees (Fahrenheit). Not too hot, not too cold, we break out all those open toed shoes and maybe (after loads of sunscreen) bare our shoulders.
And when that happens there is nothing quite like bringing your knitting into the great outdoors with you. That’s probably why Knitscene’s summer issue has an entire section called Special Summer Handbags. And wouldn’t you know it? There are some JP beauties in there.
Big thanks to Knitscene for featuring our Bella and the L.J. Kaelms in summery shades of Pearl and Lucky Green. Can’t you just imagine yourself swinging your Bella down the pier or parking your L.J. Kaelms on a blanket with some knitting and an audio book, the breeze ever so slight?
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the new issue, there are some seriously adorable patterns in there. The Lakota Tank by Sarah Wilson has me thinking summer, for sure! What’s your favorite?
Anne over at knitspot is also a seasoned traveler (with a penchant for taking great photos of foliage, among other things), which is why we asked her to give our L.J. Kaelms a try and see how it worked out for her.
Isn’t Toby (her pup) super cute? Totally adorable. Can you believe all the stuff she fit in there? I’m seriously impressed. Makes me think I need an L.J. Kaelms for my next trip in the sky.
Anne loved the bag. Of course it didn’t hurt that green is her favorite color. But she loved the weight and the pockets as well. She wasn’t sure if it would replace her older green bag for traveling, but she did say this:
I do find this one a little more stylish, so I’ll definitely grab it to tote along when I feel the look is important — and certainly I love how it babies my iPad. I also really like that it could easily work as my only bag for overnight trips — I may even try that sometime soon.”
Traveling with just one bag? She must be a pro. I’d love to see what she gets in there then and if it fits under her airline seat. See how hers fit in the bottom left photo there?
Thanks for sharing your travel thoughts with us Anne! You can read the whole review of the L.J. Kaelms on the knitspot blog, along with all sorts of fun pictures. Check it out!

Since Rebecca started knitting, she’s discovered the joys of podcasts. It’s true! She never really understood until she wanted to entertain herself while her hands and eyes were otherwise occupied. Enter podcasts.
Recently our Bella was reviewed on KnitCircus’ new podcast with Jaala and Amy. They also took a few lovely, spring time photos of her!
You can skip right to 24:50 to hear the thorough, very nice two-minute review — our vegan leather is so convincing Amy kept calling it leather — or (in the spirit of Rebecca) grab your needles, listen to the whole thing and knit to your heart’s content.
What about you? What do you do while you knit? Do you have any favorite podcasts (knitting-related or not) Rebecca should subscribe to? Some of her favorites include RadioLab and This American Life.
Spring is one of my favorite seasons for many reasons: gorgeous flowers blooming, more sunshine and of course, cute clothes that haven’t seen the outside of the closet since fall began. Hello open-toed shoes!
Featured in the editor’s Fresh Picked Knits, we’re proud to be called “great,” and happy to be featured in Creative Knitting this month! You can check out the whole magazine online, and there’s even a knitalong with the bucket hat. The pattern is free right now. Sweet!
Probably the handbag that sees the most daily use around JP Headquarters is Bella. Jordana alternates regularly between all three colors; I’m still swooning over mine in bronze. We’re not the only ones who love our Bellas.
Although she’s small, she can carry plenty (ask the blogger who filled hers with 8 soup cans), so unless you’re carrying around a full sweater or an afghan, she usually does the trick.
Alicia over at Fashion By Alicia calls Bella “great for travel” and says this: “If you need a new spacious handbag, I would definitely check out Jordana Paige even if you aren’t a knitter.” Thanks Alicia! Read the full review here.
Another blogger gave Bella props for its material and fabrication, saying it was “richly hued” and “soft.” Fantastic! Bella definitely brings out the kind words.
Doing things with others is a great way to learn different techniques and get new ideas. Everyone I cook with seems to peel garlic differently. The same goes for knitting, crocheting and organizing all of our gear.
Many of the people we’ve chatted with have used our Crafter’s Tool Butler in conjunction with another handbag or just kept it as a carryall around the house. But Robyn Chachula over at crochet by faye likes hers as a clutch.
“I have to be honest, I have mainly been carrying it around to polish me up a bit too. It is really attractive and I have been using it as a clutch of sorts. It reminds me to wear nice shoes, put on jewelry, and basically get out of typical crazed mom look.
Granted I have it stuffed with a diaper and wipes in one back pocket, crochet swatch in another, wallet/cell in another, and pens/ hooks/snacks in the front; but I look like a very cool mom with a tiny clutch instead of a huge bag.”
You can read more of Robyn’s review on her blog and enter to win your own Crafter’s Tool Butler! The giveaway runs through April 14. While you’re there, check out some of her great crochet patterns. If you’re not already into crochet, the Paint by Numbers toddler dress might just give you the push you need. Thanks for the great review Robyn!
When Jordana looked through the names suggested for her newest product, she said, “I really like the idea of a butler for your tools.” And it turns out, a lot of other people do too.
Whether they’re on the West Coast at Stitches:
“I love my needle case I bought at the show. I had such a good time. Thank you so much!”
-Jane M.
Or the East Coast:
“I just got the tool butler from Tobia Knits shop in Port Republic, NJ. It’s wonderful! I was able to put my entire collection of double points in it with scissors, point protectors, needle gauge, stitch markers and a katcha, as well. Everything to do socks and gloves are there in one place. Thanks Jordana for another amazing product!”
-Frances T
Or in the virtual world, like Kate at Squidoo, who took loads of beautiful photos of her Crafter’s Tool Butler.
“The Butler got its own photo shoot as soon as it arrived, before it was even out of the box – the box gives you a keen preview of Butler’s functionality.”
You can read Kate’s full review here. Do you love the idea of having your own butler? Tell us why in the comments! Already have a butler? Tell us what you like best about it.
In all the excitement leading up to the release of the Crafter’s Tool Butler, I (Rebecca) completely forgot to blog about our very first review our newest product received from one of my new favorite bloggers.
Now I know I’m considerably late to the party, but if you haven’t read Stephanie Pearl-McPhee’s blog, Yarn Harlot, then you (like me until about six months ago) are missing out. She’s got serious wit and writing chops to boot.
In addition to including it in her 25 Days of Gifts for Knitters list, she said this about our Crafter’s Tool Butler:
Like their bags, it’s classy, and for knitters who knit a lot away from home, I think it’s a good idea … I think I could easily pack a whole book tour’s knitting tool needs in there”
You can read her whole review here, and then check out some of her more recent posts. I’m especially partial to her recent vacation posts, complete with monkeys and zip lines. Thanks so much Stephanie!
Great customers are the base of any great business, and we believe our JP customers are exceptionally special! That’s why we’re always on the lookout for new folks to feature in our knitter profiles and why we’re really stoked with the latest press our Crafter’s Tool Butler received.
Remember our naming contest back in December? The one where we guaranteed a little place in Jordana Paige history? Well it looks like we under-promised: Our awesome customers were featured in the latest issue of Yarn Market News!
A lively discussion on what the pouch should be called took place openly on Jordana Paige’s Facebook wall, where knitters proffered ideas like Murphy (as in Murphy bed), the Kangaroo Case, the Yarner’s Pearl, Knitcessity, Knitting in a Clutch, In Case I Have a Notion, and even Pick Pocket as part of the contest.
You can see the whole write-up in March’s YMN. The magazine is full of the latest happenings in the yarn industry. It also includes a great interview with author Margaret Atwood as well as an article written by Rebecca.
Thanks to all of you for being a part of Jordana Paige, and congratulations on the publicity!
